Book "Культурна експансія"

Cultural expansion is the process of Russia’s slow and gradual occupation of Ukrainian cultural life, the displacement of indigenous elements from Ukrainian culture, and either their appropriation or replacement with Russian ones. Everyone has heard about the bans on the Ukrainian language, knows about the Russification of Ukrainian television, or the destruction of historic architecture during the Soviet era. However, far fewer people realize the scale of this expansion and the depth of Russian influence on every sphere of cultural life. Our anthology presents a multidimensional picture of Russia’s aggressive behavior in the Ukrainian cultural sphere—from the 18th century to the present day, from church architecture to television advertising.
