Book "Бачити українською"

Language is not merely a collection of words stored in dictionaries, nor is it an arbitrary set of meanings. Language is a way of thinking and reflecting reality; it is a picture of the world that our distant ancestors began to paint and that our distant descendants will continue to refine. We, too, play a direct role in its creation, constantly adding to and refining the background and the story. Our linguistic picture shows how we see the world. And we see it through the lens of Ukrainian.

The book “Seeing in Ukrainian” is dedicated to the most fundamental unit of language — the word. It is the word that allows us to understand one another (and to quarrel), to convey important (and unimportant) information, to express feelings (and even simply to think about them). And in general — it was the word that literally started everything. “Everything?” you might ask. At the very leas t— this book; at the very most — human consciousness. And this is no joke, because there are no jokes in books about language.
