Description

Fabric colour: light blue

Fabric composition: 100% linen

The ornamentation and composition of this embroidered shirt draw on the traditions of the Chernihiv Polissya region. One of the key inspirations for the design was a rushnyk dating from the late 19th century. Depictions of birds are found in many regions of Ukraine, but the Chernihiv region is characterised by a combination of zoomorphic and geometric motifs. The ‘pivnyky’ symbolise the sun, fire, light and the awakening to life.
