The pin is based on the work of Martha Pitchuk ‘Motanka. Ukraine’.

The painting combines an ancient amulet with a living woman, symbolising the unity and indestructibility of the Ukrainian state. The Motanka features clothing elements from nine historical and ethnographic regions: a headdress from Poltava region, a necklace from Podillia, a corset from Zaporizhzhia, sleeves from Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea, Polissia, Bukovyna, and Hutsul.
